The summer has finally arrived in Australia. Temperatures are getting higher, and the weather is getting hotter. That means your regular walk in the park pushing the stroller with a baby inside will get tougher unless you wear the right outfit and accessories.
As mums, we carry all sorts of things in the baby backpack, under the stroller, and probably inside the jeans pockets. Every mother wants the best for their baby, but mums often forget to take care of themselves, and you know how they say – a happy mother means a happy baby.
In this article, we’re sharing a few tips about preparing yourself for a regular walk in the park during the summer. If you’re not sure if you’ve forgotten something, print this list and place it on the front door to be sure you do not forget something when you’re walking out. 1. Tanning solution
The summer sun can really burn you. Applying some sunscreen or some Bondi Sands protection tanning oil will keep you safe no matter the conditions. You can easily cover the baby’s stroller with a blanket, but your face, arms, and legs will stay out in the hot sun.
Aside from keeping you comfortable and worries-free, the tanning oil will also provide a perfect bronze tan for you. Even though you haven’t been to the beach or enjoyed the ocean, you can still have a fantastic skin tan that will make you feel beautiful and confident.
2. Mosquito repellent
Mosquitoes can be so annoying. Not just for you, but for the baby too. Always wear mosquito repellent and apply it in the most strategic places. You can’t spray directly into your baby, but you can apply some on the sides of the stroller, the blanket, and other items not touched by the baby.
Do the same for yourself. Covering your baby with the blanket makes it safe, but you’re constantly out in the open. You must add the repellent to your clothes and skin and make sure that these little buggers are out of your surroundings.
3. Sunglasses
Is there a need to explain why you need sunglasses in the summer? The hot sun is so bright that you can’t see clearly with a good pair of sunglasses. Always have one nearby and carry them with you. Even if you’re in the shade, you should be wearing sunglasses to see.
Get a pair that will have enough UV protection. UV stands for UltraViolet light, which is dangerous and may seriously damage your eyes permanently if you’re not careful. Many people will opt for cheap glasses that only imitate protection and create more damage than good for themselves.
4. Hat for your head
Another essential item for the summer – a hat. With an abundance of hat options, you should pick the one that will be perfect for the occasion, the outfit you’re wearing at the moment, and your personal enjoyment.
Put a hat on your hat that will look excellent with the rest of the clothes, but make sure you don’t forget the original reason why you’re wearing it. You’re not just wearing it for fashion, but to protect your head. Your head might get too hot from the sun, and the hat will take most of that heat out.
5. A water bottle and an aluminium straw
Staying hydrated is vital for your health. You can’t allow yourself to get dehydrated when you’re out and about with your baby. The worst-case scenario is fainting out and leaving your child unattended. This is more common than you think in the summer. Heat is a serious issue for people.
The simplest solution to this problem is always carrying a water bottle with you. There’s no need for huge bottles or something specific. You just need an ordinary tin bottle with an aluminium straw. We say aluminium and tin because this is reusable, won’t create waste, and will protect the environment.
6. Comfortable running shoes
The last, but definitely not least are the running shoes. You might not be running a marathon, but it almost feels like one when you have a walk with your baby. If you have a toddler, you’ll regret more if you don’t have the most comfortable shoes on your feet because toddlers are more demanding than babies.
Get yourself a comfortable pair of running shoes that will keep you healthy and capable of walking long distances through the park. The summer means the weather is hot and dry, so you won’t encounter puddles or anything like that, meaning your feet need comfortable sneakers to get the job done. Order online or check the stores for the ultimate best pair for you.
